Direct Xpress is an 24-month, top-to-bottom analysis designed to maximize the productivity of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority’s Xpress regional commuter coach service.
This study has investigated the how, why, where and when of existing Xpress commuter services and has developed recommendations for cost-effective improvements across all aspects of our operations including routes, schedules, and administration. Direct Xpress has also explored market trends and current and future commuting patterns to ensure the Xpress service continues to reflect the needs of metro Atlanta’s commuters and businesses.
The final product will be a road map to guide GRTA’s future efforts to ensure that Xpress continues to enhance Georgia’s economic competitiveness and provide a positive return on the taxpayers’ investment.
The Direct Xpress study team is a combination of GRTA staff and consultant staff led by Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc.
The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority addresses mobility and air quality in metro Atlanta and serves as the Governor’s voice for strategic direction in transportation planning for Georgia’s most populous region. GRTA’s role as a regional commuter transit provider began ten years ago with Xpress, a commuter coach service provided through a partnership between the state and metro Atlanta counties. Xpress has since grown to become a key part of the region’s transportation network.
